Should we be surprised that MSNBC is selectively editing news footage to fit and perpetuate the lefty message that Mitt Romney is an out-of-touch one-percenter? Of course not. Just like we should not have been surprised that NBC News selectively edited 9-1-1 tapes for air in order to fit and perpetuate the lefty message that George Zimmerman–that murderous White Hispanic from Florida–killed Trayvon Martin in cold blood.
Still, even if we should not be surprised, it’s always good to document these things, especially when we have such great, tangible examples of overt media bias.
For me, the full footage showed a few things. First, it made me really, really miss Wawa hoagies, and the touch-pad ordering system they had been using for years. Secondly, it really reinforced how much better Mitt Romney has become in engaging audiences; here, he was affable, informal, and effective. Third, it was a great example of how good Romney has become at explaining the perils of government intervention.
All in all, it was an amazingly good edit from MSNBC, in that it managed to take one reality (Mitt Romney makes a compelling argument regarding public-versus-private-sector efficiency) and turn it into fantasy (Mitt Romney is a stiff, disconnected wealthy man who has never ordered his own hoagie before). Thank goodness, in this age of New Media, that there were folks out there like the MRC to catch it.
