Daily Reminder: March 7, 2012

Three years ago this week, U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton became the laughingstock of the Russian press after presenting her Russian counterpart with a mock “reset” button, fashioned after the launch buttons featured in so many Cold War-themed movies.

The problem? Instead of translating into “reset,” the word chosen by Clinton’s State Department for the big red button actually meant “overloaded” or “overcharged.”
