Daily Reminder: March 4, 2012

In a black-and-white example of how the artificially manufactured crisis known as the theory of man-made global warming can catastrophically hinder economic growth, on March 4, 2009 U.S. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner told Congress that the official stance of the Obama administration is that all energy policy will focus on renewable sources, and that the federal subsidies and tax breaks enjoyed by U.S. oil and natural gas companies will be eliminated because the oil and gas industry contributes to global warming.

Disincentivizing oil and natural gas production detracts from our ability to achieve true energy independence and artificially hinders job and economic growth for ideological reasons. While we should focus on an all-of-the-above energy policy, unnecessarily focusing on renewables at the expense of the growth and security which comes from fossil fuels for the sole reason of facilitating the redistributive aspects of the global warming farce does no good for anyone.
