According to Bloomberg three years ago today, the price tag on the Senate version of the so-called “stimulus” bill dropped during negotiations today, from $920,000,000,000 to $820,000,000,000. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid was quoted as saying, “well, we found a ‘$100 million off’ coupon in the sofa cushions in Teddy Kennedy’s office.”

Just kidding. That last part was a joke.

Unfortunately, the first part was not. While the total cost of the bill eventually settled in at a meager $862 billion, Democrats the world over would probably want the American people to know that, hey, non-stimulative stimulus could have been even more expensive!
