HERE’S WHAT OUR FEDERAL GOVERNMENT DID WITH IT:
That’s the amount of taxpayer money dedicated in the $862 billion American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (the “stimulus” bill) and received by the California Academy of Sciences for the purpose of sending researchers to east Africa and to islands in the Indian Ocean for the purpose of photographing and capturing indigenous ants.
That’s right, ants. Nearly two million dollars of your money, and why? To photograph and capture what most Americans just want to keep out of their cupboards.
