Well, if the video above wasn’t a lovely little microcosm of the left’s vitriol and reaction to the Gabrielle Giffords shooting, I don’t know what is. And, if you entertain the notion that “ReallyRick” may not be a fair representative of the American political left, consider the following compilation of network news reactions to the tragic events of Saturday, January 8, 2011:
Now that you’ve suffered your way through the video by “ReallyRick” and by the reaction by network television news, please go take a look at Dana Loesch’s piece at BigJournalism.com, The Blame Game. Loesch may have done the best job I’ve seen so far of compiling links and screenshots and tweets which tear apart the knee-jerk reaction by the left and the mainstream press. One thing that Dana does not point out, though, is that Jared Loughner’s obsession with Congresswoman Giffords extended back to 2007–a letter from December 2007 was found in Loughner’s safe–which, obviously, predates the emergence of both Sarah Palin and the Tea Party on the American political scene.
So go, now, and peruse Dana’s piece HERE. (It’s too long and chock-full of information to effectively excerpt here.) Combined with the commentary I penned here yesterday, Targeted By Default, it should provide folks with not only the details of what happened over the weekend, but also the details as to how this has happened time and time again.
In the meantime, please continue to pray for the recovery of Congresswoman Giffords and the others who survived, and for the souls of those who did not.
