Voter Fraud in NV, NC

Fox5News (Las Vegas): Voters Suspicious of Fraud at Ballot Box

Voter Joyce Ferrara said when they went to vote for Republican Sharron Angle, her Democratic opponent, Sen. Harry Reid’s name was already checked.

Ferrara said she wasn’t alone in her voting experience. She said her husband and several others voting at the same time all had the same thing happen.”Something’s not right,” Ferrara said. “One person that’s a fluke. Two, that’s strange. But several within a five minute period of time — that’s wrong.”

Well, golly, that sure doesn’t sound very good. It sure seems to me that the machine has some sort of unfair default setting. But what do I know?

Clark County Registrar of Voters Larry Lomax said there is no voter fraud, although the issues do come up because the screens are sensitive. He said if voters choose English (instead of Spanish) for their language of choice, the ballot pops up with Angle selected.

Larry Lomax’s words are enshrined in print, granted, but there’s a ho-hum quality about his word choice that insinuates that this sort of problem is run-of-the-mill for the election out there in Harry Reid’s home state. I don’t care whether Harry Reid or Sharron Angle benefits — in a representative republic, this sort of thing is unacceptable.

Sun Journal: Voter Reports Problem with Ballot Machine

A Craven County voter says he had a near miss at the polls on Thursday when an electronic voting machine completed his straight-party ticket for the opposite of what he intended.

Sam Laughinghouse of New Bern said he pushed the button to vote Republican in all races, but the voting machine screen displayed a ballot with all Democrats checked. He cleared the screen and tried again with the same result, he said. Then he asked for and received help from election staff.

“They pushed it twice and the same thing happened,” Laughinghouse said. “That was four times in a row. The fifth time they pushed it and the Republicans came up and I voted.”

M. Ray Wood, Craven County Board of elections chairman, issued a written statement saying that the elections board is aware of isolated issues and that in each case the voter was able to cast his or her ballot as desired.

Chuck Tyson, chairman of Craven County GOP, remains skeptical. He has been communicating with Wood about the issue and was invited to a meeting Wednesday with state elections officials. There were no further details about that meeting.

“Something is not right here,” Tyson told the Sun Journal. He said he “got two or three calls” from people describing the same problem while they were voting.

“I’ll be matter of fact, I didn’t find that press release satisfactory,” Tyson said, referring to Wood’s written statement.

Tyson reported other problems as well, including long lines waiting for just two voting machines in Havelock, and machines reporting 250 ballots cast where 400 voters had signed in to vote.

Let’s go back to black and white marbles.

Notice how the machines never have system problems favoring anyone other than democRATS. Kind of like my republican write in ballot for AG that was refused because I did not know the street NUMBER of the candidate. I had his name, street and town.
BTW, has anyone checked to see if Nicky Diaz, Meg Whitman’s former housekeeper, is / was registered to vote in CA. My money is on yes.

“Larry Lomax’s words are enshrined in print”

    Well, except that they aren’t.

The current version of the story, UPDATED: 6:39 pm PDT October 26, 2010 doesn’t contain those words.

You think maybe some dumb journalist was making up shit and it got removed when someone noticed it? Nah, never happen, all journalists are upright honest people who never write anything other than the unadorned truth.

Today there are even more articles regarding voter fraud that is taking place with absentee ballots. This week will be interesting and election day will be fun. I wonder how long it will take to settle the challenges that are sure to come.

  5. Boston Blackie says:

Reid is now offering free food and gift cards to entice people to come out and vote for him.

  6. andrew n says:

i am an NV resident, and voted. the way our machines work is you get 4 clear opportunities to verify your vote at the machine. 1. when you cast your vote. 2. after selecting, it asks “you selected__, ” and can confirm or change. 3. after casting all votes, the screen shows a review of your ballot, and you can go back and make changes. 4. before ballot is cast, it prints out a hard copy on tickertape off to the side, where you can verify your selections. When this is done, you cast you ballot. After all this, if you havent voted your will, you obviously are either drunk, or otherwise mentally impaired. Even IF the machine was preprogrammed to vote for Reid, youd have to be a total idiot not to change it. so the fraud allegation is pointless. Or maybe Angles supporters have a difficult time reading.

  8. Jeff Schreiber says:

Andrew — that’s not the point. The ballot should have NO default setting. Not Reid. Not Angle.

  9. Sam says:

Having been in IT for over 40 years (starting on punch cards), I’ll take punch cards over a software laden voting machine every time.

  10. Jordan Bell says:

    Andrew,

If I decide I do not like the selection of candidates this year, it is my choice to NOT cast a ballot. In doing so, I give my vote to no one, for none of the candidates may be worthy of it. If the machine is automatically selecting someone, it is making the decision for me and giving a vote to someone I did not want to give to, and it is taking away my freedom and right to choose.

This is fraud if the machine automatically comes up with someone already preselected. It should be defaulted blank, and if you do not vote for someone then it is left blank and counts for no one.

  11. D'oh says:

Andrew is assuming intelligence in the electorate…. even with all the opportunities for the voter to proof, some are so stupid that default vote settings are just plain wrong.

  12. John Buyon says:

    @ Jordan
if you don’t want to vote I have a radical idea for you: don’t vote, stay home
just don’t think you’re funny by showing up dicking around while submitting an empty ballot then coming here to cry and whine about how the Leeberals steal the election

and besides voter fraud is old and the institutionalizing of it started under a certain republican in 2000

    grasping at straws?
whats the matter I thought you guys are going to win in a landslide? are you already trying to delegitimatize this election as well?

  13. Gail B. says:

John Buyon, if Jordan doesn’t want to vote, that’s his/her business, not yours. Besides, (s)he didn’t say (s)he was not voting. Chill!

  14. Jordan Bell says:

    John,

I did cast my vote, and exercised my right to do it. The main point of what I was trying to get across is that if a person decides to not vote, then their ballot should not be automatically checked to count for a vote for someone they did not vote for. If the ballots are being checked without a person voting, then yes someone (I won’t specify liberals like you do) are trying to steal the election.

And just because voter fraud has been done before doesn’t make it right. A wrong is a wrong all the time.

The voter fraud you’re referring in 2000 must not be about Florida, cause that was all Al Gore trying to steal the Florida electorate with the dimpled chads. And voter fraud definitely didn’t start with a Republican then.

  15. John Buyon says:

    @ Jordan

pre-selecting a candidate and giving 4 ways to change preferences plus offering it in 2 languages plus a printed paper copy, hardly qualifies as “voter fraud.”

I know voter fraud is wrong all the time but once again as right-wing has no ability to grasp it, is all about proportion.
and the original voter fraud was the conservatives in the 1960′s who used every dirty trick in the book to ensure black Americans didn’t vote. And when they returned in 2000 en masse to Florida where they purged voter rolls.

  16. Jordan Bell says:

You still don’t get it John. How is a person going to change the preselected ballot if they don’t go to the polls to vote? The machine is making the vote for the person. That is fraud.

You’re the one who can’t grasp it. You want to go back on history for voter fraud, the Democrats did it all over the place in the 1930s before your so called conservatives did it to blacks in the 1960s (which seems odd since it was the Democratic south that tried to keep them down, not to mention it was conservatives that certified their right after the Civil War). I’m sure you can keep going back further in time to find more examples.

  17. John Buyon says:

the southern democrats in the early part of the 20th century were not liberals. they were conservatives in every sense of the word, party name is just a euphemism.
ever heard of the southern strategy? and how the south defected from D to R from economic populism ( democrats) to social conservatism ( Republicans)

and the losing side of the civil war were the conservatives…
the people who in their own words wanted to “conserve the american tradition of slavery” and to defend the constitution from big government that wanted to infringe on the rights of the states to keep Africans in bondage. the parties are reversed today compared to 150 years ago.

democrats committed voter fraud in the 1930′s? excuse me the democrats especially the radical socialist democrats were riding high on electoral success during the depression they had no need to steal votes.
