Reid’s Aide Aids Terror Suspect

Fox News: Aide to Harry Reid Lied to Feds, Submitted False Documents About Sham Marriage

An aide to Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid repeatedly lied to federal immigration and FBI agents and submitted false federal documents to the Department of Homeland Security to cover up her illegal seven-year marriage to a Lebanese national who was the subject of an Oklahoma City Joint Terror Task Force investigation, has learned.

Diana Tejada, Reid’s Hispanic Press Secretary, admitted to receiving payment for “some of her expenses” in exchange for fraudulently marrying Bassam Mahmoud Tarhini in 2003, strictly so he could obtain permanent U.S. residency, according to court documents.

Read the whole story for more.  It’s like something out of “24″ or, more accurately, the plot for Tom Clancy’s Clear and Present Danger.  In the latter, an official with Cuba’s General Intelligence Directorate seduces a low-level government official and convinces her to unwittingly divulge information regarding a War On Drugs-crusading FBI Director’s visit to Columbia.

Here, we have a press secretary for the Senate Majority Leader–a woman affiliated with La Raza, by the way–who has engaged in unlawful conduct–a sham marriage–intended to facilitate a suspicious Lebanese national’s continued stay within the United States.

How is this not the story of the day?

  1. Monica says:

I don’t know. I mean we have these people we’re interested in, like Reid. Anytime a story is about behavior of someone Reid hired, it’s less interesting than the behavior of Reid himself. The further removed the person is from the person of interest, the less it matters. They can and will always claim they didn’t know, and it’s hard to prove anything. It reminds me of the controversy over an illegal immigrant working for Meg Whitman.

  2. Gail B. says:

How could Harry Reid not know about this? And what has he done to correct it? Shall I hold my breath?
