The Wall Street Journal: The Obama Heyday is Over
With so many Democrats running against the president’s agenda in the midterm, change will come in the next Congress, regardless of which party is in control.
Look, I understand where Kim Strassel is coming from. It’s more than amusing to watch these folks run away, as fast as they can, from the agenda that they worked so hard to implement. It’s great watching them repudiate Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and Barack Obama.
But please, folks — context.
We are less than sixty days out of one of the most important mid-term election in decades. Just as John McCain had to transmogrify into a right-wing hawk, the left is doing the best they can to be sure that the American public, already soured on Democrats, forget what’s been going on for the past 19 months.
Mark my words — just as I correctly said back at the beginning of the year that “healthcare” would become a bad word by November, I promise you that should the Democrats somehow survive November 2 and maintain control, what we will see from them will be an incredibly dangerous, two-year-long lame duck session.
