BP Spill Worse than Katrina

ABC News: Poll: BP Oil Spill Response Rated Worse than Katrina

By more than a 2-to-1 margin, Americans support the pursuit of criminal charges in the nation’s worst oil spill , with increasing numbers calling it a major environmental disaster. Eight in 10 criticize the way BP’s handled it – and more people give the federal government’s response a negative rating than did the response to Hurricane Katrina.

I think it’s too early to tell the truth about the federal response to the BP spill.  There’s plenty of blame to go around, I’m sure, but I wouldn’t want to start assigning it before the spill is even contained, let alone cleaned up.

Still, I’m shocked to see how badly the Obama administration is faring in this poll.

All those white people need to get on top of their shrimp boats with signs saying “SEND HELP”.

  2. Bubba Gump says:

This is sad, so sad. There are going to be more excuses than there are(were) ways to cook up shrimp.

  3. Jenny says:

Run, Forrest, run…. for president. We need some sense in the White House.

  4. Anonymous says:

Stupid is, as stupid doesn’t do.

  5. William A. Rose says:

I am no tree hugger whacko. BUT, I do believe mankind should take care of the environment – we only have one and you can’t go get another one at the local corner store.

As for oil dependence, it’s all about the money. Everything is. We have the technology, and have had for a very long time, to utilize electrical mes to power ALL types of vehicles. How many miles do any of us drive on a given day? Have a look at Tesla Motors. They have a totally electric car. Two models. They are capable of 250 miles on a charge. And they will smoke a number of the highest-end performance vehicles in the 0-60 race.

If we destroy the environment, the government will be happy to step in and say it can save us if we just give in to it completely. This new crisis is the perfect way to enacct more controls on society and business. What’s really bad, is We The People will believe the government can actually fix the problems, all the while it cannot and the environment is being killed.

The last I have heard is that there are now pockets of oil in a larger part of the Gulf that extend down to over 3K feet. I submit, Marine life cannot live in that. We do not have the ability to function at 5K feet below sea level as we can on land. So why would we even consider drilling in an environment where we cannot quickly and effectively deal with such problems as we see now at that well head? And now there is a second leak some 100 miles away. Do we really want to kill the Gulf? I do not see how this cannot have adverse world-wide climatic effects.

Whatever, I guess I am just rambling. BP doesn’t care, despite what they say. Obama and co don’t really care, despite what they say (they see this as an opportunity).

Mankind is gonna get what it wants. We think we are so wise. We know squat.
