Transparency? Not Quite.

Fox News: Government Transparency Down in ’09

In fiscal year 2009, 17 major governmental agencies refused to release information, claiming legal exemptions, 466,872 times, an increase of nearly 50 percent from the previous year, according to a review of requests conducted by The Associated Press. In 2008, the government refused 312,683 requests made under the Freedom of Information Act, AP reported.

“Most honest, open and ethical Congress ever” — isn’t that just about how Speaker Pelosi put it?  Didn’t the president say something about “unparalleled transparency?”

Huh. So much for those promises.

Not only that, but remember Pelosi’s comment about having to pass the healthcare bill in order to find out what’s in it!

I just received my 2010 Census form. The government asked for my phone number. I gave them my MagicJack number…and unplugged it.
