Pelosi Health Bill a Breeding Ground for Bureaucracy

This is incredible. Obviously, at 1,990 pages, H.R. 3962 isn’t going to be shrinking the federal government by any means. Certainly, bureaucrats breed bureaucracy. But to see it quantified, to see the new government agencies and red tape factories in black and white is just stunning.

What am I talking about? Well, there’s this — a list of all the new boards, bureaucracies, agencies, commissions and programs created by the House Republican Conference. One hundred and eleven new programs. Each and every one bringing with it suggestions to be made, regulations to be put into place, further encroachments into the everyday lives and freedom of Americans.

The cost for printing business cards and letterhead alone, not to mention meeting agendas and water glasses and memorandum bindings, is going to bankrupt this country. Somehow, we’re supposed to believe the farcical illusion promulgated by the Democrats that this amount of rampant bureaucracy is going to save the American people money? Give me a break.

This is why Medicare costs what it does today instead of the infinitesimally lower projections made by Congress in 1965. This is why no government program ever has been run efficiently. How is this exponential expansion of government going to help? How does this behemoth, and everything it brings, amount to less red tape and better access to health care for Americans who need it?

The answer: it doesn’t.

Because it’s not about health care. It’s not about helping the sick, or insuring the uninsured, or driving down costs, or burping babies or killing grannies or diversifying nurse’s stations or anything else. This is about control, plain and simple. It’s about being able to oversee each and every aspect of our daily lives — what we eat, what we drive, where we drive, where we work, how we dress, what activities we engage in. It’s a blank check, capable of infinite influence, made payable to people who want to fundamentally change America and put an end to American exceptionalism.

We must beat this thing. We absolutely must prevail. The House vote is Friday — call your congressmen, fax their offices, show up and knock on their door. If we defeat this bill on Friday, we can send it away for good, and perhaps eventually tackle actual health care reform built with the people’s best interests at heart, rather than the interests of a power-hungry federal government.

    Meanwhile, 4,000,000 jobs have been lost since January 20, 2009. And someone pointed out to me that the 650,000 jobs "saved or created" have been canceled out by the influx of illegal aliens here.

    JOBS!??!?! They are jobs in the public sector, not private where we need them! Jobs in the private sector create consumer spending, competition, free enterprise, free market growth, etc. The only job growth now is in the Federal Government.

    More bureaucracy creates more dependency on the government thus giving them more power and us less. THE GOVERNMENT WORKS FOR THE PEOPLE!!!! WE PAY THEIR SALARIES AND THEY ARE RUNNING ROUGHSHOD OVER US CITIZENS!! The more they have, the more they can take away. Don't idly stand by and watch your freedoms be taken away.
