A Lesson For Whom?

Assigned Reading: What if Bush Had Done That?
(FROM: Politico)

A four-hour stop in New Orleans, on his way to a $3 million fundraiser.

Snubbing the Dalai Lama.

Signing off on a secret deal with drug makers.

Freezing out a TV network.

Doing more fundraisers than the last president. More golf, too.

President Barack Obama has done all of those things — and more.

What’s remarkable is what hasn’t happened. These episodes haven’t become metaphors for Obama’s personal and political character — or consuming controversies that sidetracked the rest of his agenda.

It’s a sign that the media’s echo chamber can be a funny thing, prone to the vagaries of news judgment, and an illustration that, in politics, context is everything.

Brilliant. Read the whole thing. And, please, leave some comments with questions of your own.

Fill in the blank: What if George W. Bush had done ___________?

  1. Anonymous says:

What if George W. Bush had ordered INS to stop all deportations to hide the non-deportation of an illegal alien aunt who was living on welfare and ordered deported years ago?

What if George W. Bush had flown out of town for dinner with the wife after creating a panic in the news that a bill must be passed asap for his signature, only to have it wait for a better photo-op.

What if George W. Bush had enslaved public school children to work a garden in the back yard of the White House.

so many so little space LOL

    What if George W. Bush…
… had bowed to a Saudi Prince?
… had ignored his general's request for more troops?
… had made a trip overseas to lobby for the Olympic games and lost?
… had a self-avowed communist on his staff? (Oh, that one would probably have been applauded)

    Forgot one:
…had accused a black police officer of acting stupidly in the arrest of a white man?

  4. Gail B says:

What if GWB had scared the hell out of everybody in NYC for a photo op of Air Force One?

  5. goddessdivine says:

…had children singing praises to him (mmmm, mmmm, mmmm)

…had given gifts, such as an ipod with his speeches or a DVD collection in the wrong format, to world dignitaries

    …won a peace prize

    …said we had 57 states

…kept saying that he "inherited a mess"

…had people on his cabinet who were tax cheats

…made fun of protesters attending the Tea Parties

…claimed he hadn't paid much attention to the ACORN scandals.

(Gosh this is fun! We could keep going and going…..)

Okay, I am so sick of this! The elections in 2010 are a long way off…2012 even further. How much more can we take?
