Five-Alarm Stupidity

Assigned Reading: Firefighter Suspended Over Flag Sticker
(FROM: My Fox Philly.com)

A Chester City firefighter is taking heat after he refused to take the American flag off of his locker.

The firefighter is trying to go back to work Friday night after being suspended without pay Thursday for refusing to take the flag sticker off his locker, Fox 29′s Sharon Crowley reported.

Insane. Just insane. If it were a sticker memorializing those firefighters who gave their lives on September 11, 2001, would he have been forced to remove it, too?

Once again, we see political correctness trumping common sense. This is the sort of thing that needs to stop, lest we lose our culture and our nation altogether.

This country is in distress, that flag sticker should have been mounted upside down.

    People have gone absolutely nuts.

Having read the case, I came to a (possibly faulty) conclusion that there was a blanket ban on ANY stickers, from the Old Glory to centerfolds of Sports Illustrated. Thus, while a suspension sounds unduly harsh, rules do apply to everyone – patriots no exception. Now, if an American flag warranted a retribution while a Mexican or a Kenyan were allowed to stay, I'd say it is torch'n'pitchfork time…

Oh, but of course, if he were a "woman stuck in a man's body" wanting his own private bathroom or a muslim looking for a place to do his daily prayers, they would move heaven and earth to accomadate. The greatest generation sure did birth the craziest generation. God help us all!

I'm with Rix here. It does seem it was a blanket ban on everything.
