What more is it going to take? After we lose a military base in southeastern Europe, after most of Israel is vaporized, are we to assume that only then we’ll wake up to the threat posed by Iran? With news today that Iran has tested a long-range surface-to-surface missile, certainly enough to reach Israel and beyond, what else do we need?
Over and over again, we’ve heard the excuse that Iran, home of one of the world’s largest repositories of oil, is seeking peaceful nuclear energy. Even if that’s conceivable, where do the missiles fit in?
I worry that people on both sides of the aisle have forgotten how to discern good from evil, have become so consumed by the trappings of political correctness that they would dismiss even Adolf Hitler if given the chance. Finally, Israel has a man like Netanyahu at the helm and how does the United States respond? Instead of unequivocal support of a country wanting only to defend itself from destruction, we make support contingent upon the acceptance of a two-state solution, the Israeli accommodation of people who refuse to accommodate–or even acknowledge–Israel.
Nothing good can come of this. I just hope that our elected officials wake up before complacency in the name of political correctness costs thousands and thousands of innocent lives.
