¡Ay, Caramba!

For those of you who tried to come to America’s Right between 5:15 and 5:25 p.m. today and were confronted with a “Server Error” message, I am sorry.

For those of you who tried to come to America’s Right between 5:26 and 5:32 p.m. today and were confronted by Mexican porn — I am even more sorry!

It has never happened before. There was obviously some sort of mix-up, as americasright.com led not only to the Mexican porn site but also to another financial blog before everything came back to normal. Apparently, it was part of a more widespread problem with Google-based Web blog platforms.

Nevertheless, please know that I am sorry, and that I can only assure you that the technical difficulties were beyond my control, and that I hope it doesn’t happen again.

    Jeff,

This mix up this afternoon was almost humorous. To date, the abundance of porn on AmericasRight originated in the Congress…a truly obscene place.

  2. Anonymous says:

    oh my…I’m glad I missed it! ;)

  3. tm says:

    WOW
Best day ever ! Guess what time I checked in?

  4. Jeff Schreiber says:

Wonderful, tm … how was it for you?

(I’m not shy by any means, but am nonetheless completely embarrassed)

  5. Anonymous says:

Jeff, Could you put that up as a link for those of us who missed it the first time :-)

  6. Bodenzee says:

I just heard Obama stand at the podium and address Sir Edward Kennedy.

For a supposed teacher of Constitutional law this was amazing. He really demonstrated his ignorance or total contempt of the Constitution.

  7. Jeff Schreiber says:

    Very funny.

I’ve been toying with the idea for a while now about porting everything over to a different system, like WordPress. The problem, however, is that I:

    (a) don’t have time to even breathe during the day, nonetheless painstakingly switch all the material.

    (b) am clueless when it comes to the technical stuff — I cannot even get the WordPress program loaded on my computer … what are the chances that I’ll be able to effectively use it?

It’s not that I’m disappointed with Google, which runs the platform this Web site is on, or that I’m concerned that Google’s left-leaning tendencies will suddenly become a problem (today’s problem was reported for a lot of sites on their platform), but rather I’m concerned more about the fact that Google’s customer support is not very accessible and should something happen, I really need people to talk me through things.

Perhaps, over the summer, I’ll be able to make the transition, provided that I figure out how to install the WordPress program at all. In the meantime, however, I just hope that Consuela Maria Conchita Juarez and her two boyfriends don’t present themselves here again.

Jeff, was it yesterday (or the night before?) that I emailed you that nothing came up except the banner or masthead for your blog and the ads? The page was all blue otherwise. It stayed that way, even though I reloaded twice more.

Don’t feel bad about the porn. While I was researching some genealogy in a distant cousin’s website, I clicked on a church link and got porn! I let her know, of course, but it certainly took me by surprise, too.

My retired engineering friend who converted my political thinking said that he is sorry he missed out on the problem with your site! :-)

  9. La Muse Poetique says:

I was going to check in at that time today but decided to go to class early.

Thank God I did because I was in a public computer lab.

i’m extremely disappointed i missed out on the mexi-porn.

  11. Randy says:

Dear Jeff, If you switch to a Cpanel based hosting that includes the script called Fantastico, you can install WordPress by clicking your mouse. I think the most technical details the user faces are picking the installation directory and an admin password. If you want spam filtering on comments, I remember having to register a free user name and password at WordPress that links to a module in WordPress. We can discuss this off-forum if you like

Judging by that picture, I’m wondering if it was YOU with Consuela Maria Conchita Alonzo Juarez. Do you have a mustache?

    Randy,

Even the stuff you just said might as well have been this:

Αποτελέσματα αναζήτησης για Δεν βρέθηκαν λέξεις.

Yes. It’s all Greek to me.

    Thank you, though.

  14. tm says:

I was at work – stressed out took a break and

    WOW.
    Jeff, Thank you.

  15. Jeff Schreiber says:

Glad America’s Right could help people de-stress for a change.

    Seriously, though, I’m completely embarrassed.

  16. Gail B says:

Jeff, you did nothing to be embarrassed about. Paraphrased so I can remember Ephesians 5:20, “Be grateful unto God for all things always (‘all’ includes the negative too).” Did you find anyone ranting and raving? Noooo, we were laughing, but not at you.

  17. Let us move forward says:

    Randy,

Could you do the set up for Jeff and he could change the admin password when he took over the site?

    or

    Jeff,

Could you get some help from someone like Donfrio who has already made the switch and might have the time?

  18. Ian Thorpe says:

Don’t apologise for a server error Jeff, apologise to me because I missed the Mexican porn :)

  19. Let us move forward says:

    Jeff,

Could you start (a) thread(s) that would allow readers to note the effects of the government policies and lines in their locales?

For example, this morning I heard a Texas hospital group’s radio ad with “health care must be fixed before the economy can be fixed”.

I was wondering if there were indications that other medical groups were jumping on the bandwagon and repeating the line.

Is the medical community engaging in free voluntary propaganda? I know that the medical community is fed up with so many different managed care programs. The government handling all health care would “simplify” the paperwork, rules, etc.

    Jeff,

Every good IT guy knows that you keep your porn on a different system (unless you want to share)!

I have much experience with WordPress so I wanted to throw out the helping hand if you need it. I haven’t done much customizing, but some of the things you can do with WordPress are nothing short of amazing.

Check out http://www.stopspreadingwealth.com. Features like “Purchase Tracking” and “John’s Spending” are programs running inside of a blog post.

If you need help, you know how to reach me!

  21. Cole says:

    Jeff,

Just wanted to let you know that there’s no reason to fear WordPress. It’s actually really easy. I used to be a big fan of Blogger, but I made the jump and I’m very glad I did. The only pain is switching the material over, but, honestly, that’d take a couple of hours. Supposedly there’s an export tool from Blogger, but I don’t know how to use it, haha. Microsoft Word 2007 makes WordPress even easier because you can upload a post straight to the site from Word, even loads pictures and stores them on to your blog’s server.

Love the blog, by the way. You gotta watch out for that Mexican porn. :-)

  22. La Muse Poetique says:

    @ Gail

That happens to me sometimes too. You just have to empty your cache and it should go back to normal.

  23. EWW says:

Was that Mexican porn a photo on a beach chair in the Dominican Republic?

  24. SLOW IN HERE TODAY says:

    MORE PORN !

  25. ZORRO says:

    Mucho caliente porn, gracias.
