BREAKING: Gregg Withdraws Nomination for Commerce Secretary
(FROM: Fox News) Official reports are saying that he had fundamental differences with the president on the “stimulus” package and on the White House’s hijacking of the 2010 Census from apolitical Commerce Department control. I don’t care what the reason. I don’t care if Gregg was worried about the stigma of being the only member of Obama’s cabinet to have his tax returns in order. It doesn’t matter to me — what matters is that he has done the right thing. Great job, and great news. Putting principles before power . . . that’s something I’m not sure we’ll ever see a Democrat do.
According to the flash at the Drudge Report, Gregg left little room for speculation as to why he was withdrawing:
[I]t has become apparent during this process that this will not work for me as I have found that on issues such as the stimulus package and the Census there are irresolvable conflicts for me. Prior to accepting this post, we had discussed these and other potential differences, but unfortunately we did not adequately focus on these concerns. We are functioning from a different set of views on many critical items of policy. Obviously, the president requires a team that is fully supportive of all his initiatives. I greatly admire President Obama and know our country will benefit from his leadership, but at this time I must withdraw my name from consideration for this position.
The Real Stimulus Burden
(FROM: The Wall Street Journal) A sobering look at the long-term ramifications of the pork-riddled “stimulus” bill currently working its way toward President Obama’s desk. I cannot summarize the contents of the piece without blowing a gasket — you’re better off reading them for yourself.
Obama Misreads His Mandate
(FROM: The Wall Street Journal) One of two things is going to happen with the aftereffects of the stimulus package: (1) The economy continues to slump, and people realize that their Messiah may not walk on water after all, that this gigantic spending mess put us and our children into a far worse situation than if we had done nothing; or, (2) the economy continues to slump, and President Obama calls another “press conference” in which, like a Miss America contestant, he picks the questions ahead of time and tells the American people how much worse the continued downturn could have been but for the spending extravaganza of early 2009. Either way, Obama has interpreted the results of an election based primarily on everything other than his policies as to mean that he can do whatever he wants without fear of consequences. Like with so many other things, he is wrong.
Left-Wing Radio Host Mike Malloy: Republicans are ‘Domestic Terrorists’
(FROM: NewsBusters) Apparently, because all Republicans who voted against the spending package are “domestic terrorists” who “want the country to fail,” that makes me a domestic terrorist wannabe, as I would have voted against the legislation if only I had been given the chance. Perhaps, as the discussion in America turns from pork disguised as stimulus to the restriction of free speech disguised as the Fairness Doctrine, we should look at the nonsense and crap being spewed into microphones by liberal radio hosts like Mike Malloy as an example of just why they cannot compete with their counterparts on the right. Here’s Malloy’s take on us evil-doers:
They’re worse than useless. These are terrorists. These are domestic terrorists. They want the country to fail, for God’s sake. They want exactly what anyone who attacked this country on September 11, 2001 wanted. The real internal terrorists are the Republicans, I mean, isn’t that clear? Rush Limbaugh is a bigger threat to this country than Osama bin Laden. He’s a bigger threat than anybody that the CIA can invent. He’s a bigger threat than any terrorist that ever leveled its sights against the United States, Limbaugh is, so why isn’t he arrested and sentenced for treason?
Oh boy, Malloy’s mother and the three dozen other people who listen to his show must have gotten a real kick of that, huh? What a moron. What an out-of-touch, idealistic, irrational, ignorant . . . perfect example of the stupidity that permeates so much of the political left. And people wonder why the liberals require government intervention in the airwaves to compete.

Bill Ayers Wants Sarah Palin to Share Talk Show
(FROM: Newsmax) According to a report from CNN subsequently picked up by Newsmax, unrepentant domestic terrorist–and First Buddy–William Ayers has proposed “Pallin’ Around with Sarah and Bill,” a talk show featuring himself and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin as hosts. No joke. Now, of course, I can pretty much guarantee that nothing will come of this — after all, Palin is busy running Alaska, and so long as Bill’s taxes check out, he’s probably in line to run President Obama’s Department of Education. As an aside, in the article, he says he still considers himself a “radical,” and considers Obama to be . . . wait for it . . . a “moderate Democrat.”
