Despite having no formal credibility of any kind, America’s Right feels it would be appropriate to, in its inaugural post, endorse former Tennessee Senator Fred D. Thompson for President of the United States.
Huckabee, Mitt, McCain and their counterparts on the left must be quaking in their boots.
I consider the first-post endorsement of Fred, however inconsequential, fitting for a number of reasons. This Web site was essentially borne from my frustration with the current direction in which this country is headed. Government spending is out of control, the economy is spiraling toward recession, the dollar is being abandoned by foreign governments, American culture is being perverted by hip-hop, sex-crazed media and absent parents, our borders are wide open for anyone and everyone to enter the country for whatever purpose, and on top of it all, there is an entire segment of the world’s population that wakes up each and every morning from dreams of the demise of Western civilization, and nobody seems to want to see evil for what it is.
Is Fred Thompson the answer? Of course not. Conservatism is the answer. Thompson, a consistent (and somewhat recumbent) conservative, could very well be
the best possible catalyst for the return to Ronald Reagan’s ideals.
We need a return to Jeffersonian federalism, vesting the power as close to the people of this great nation as possible. We need to tax less, spend less. We need to foster education and solid families of all kinds, but not on the national level. We need to shut our damn border, and we need to wake up and realize that civilizations–even the greatest of them–rise and fall, and that America, as great and powerful and wonderful as she may be, is neither infallible nor absolute.
We live in one of the most dangerous times, perhaps, since the late 1930s, if not at any time in our nation’s history. We need somebody that views the presidency as a public service, that can and will preserve and utilize conservative ideals to deliver this country through this troubling time. For these reasons and a whole lot more, the inaugural post here at America’s Right has been spent endorsing Fred Dalton Thompson for President of the United States.
